HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A 2-alarm fire is burning at a townhome complex in northeast Harris County.

Residents say the fire started around 5:15 this morning.

Smoke could be seen miles away on the Eastex Freeway.

Six townhomes suffered serious damage. No one was hurt.

Cindy Payne says she woke up to the smoke.

"I woke up to a popping noise and I got up to see what it was and when I opened the door I seen the flames and then I called 911 and I went knocking on people's doors so they could get out," said Payne.

Payne's townhome was seriously damaged. She's lived in the townhome for six years.

She says the greatest loss, is losing china and crystal glasses, heirlooms from her mother.
