HOUSTON (KTRK) -- One person is dead after an argument turned fatal in northeast Houston. Police arrested the suspect, without incident, around 8pm Sunday after looking for him and his two-year-old daughter.

Houston police say Jatrel Rollins, 29, fled with the child after the boyfriend of his child's mother was killed. Authorities were called to the home on Vailview Drive.

According to investigators, Rollins was at the home to pick up the child from the mother. An argument in the driveway between the two turned physical with the current boyfriend intervening.

"It was domestic violence," HPD Homicide Detective Robert Clementich said. "The victim interceded, trying to get everyone back in the house. The shooter went back to his Pontiac, retrieved his firearm and then shot the victim in the back multiple times."

Police say Rollins took his daughter, drove a block to a church and abandoned the car. He left on foot with the child.

Clementich says Rollins has never made a threat against his child, so an Amber Alert was not issued.

The child's mother gave information to police on possible whereabouts for Rollins.
