Cortez remains hospitalized in critical condition. Munoz was released on Wednesday evening.

Police say six homes were burglarized in the neighborhood that same day, and say the suspects in this case, are connected to other burglaries in the area.

Earl Sherrill's lives blocks from where the shooting happened. He said his home was burglarized just hours before the shooting, sometime between 8 am and 9:30 am. He was not home at the time and returned to find his home in shambles.

"They empty all the material around safe, tore up everything," said Earl Sherrill.

He said the suspects took his wife's jewelry and tampered with his gun case, but they did not take his gun.

Sherrill is grateful he and his wife were not hurt.
