Family relieved after pest control company removes thousands of bees from home.

For several years, as soon as the weather turned warm, the Sonnier family saw a few bees on the outside of their Pecan Grove home in Fort Bend County.

A few bees on the outside with tens of thousands hidden in the space between the first floor ceiling and the second floor.

The bees were directly above 10-year-old Mia's bedroom.

"I never heard a thing," she said.

Billy Sonnier had sprayed chemicals to take care of the bees before, but it was a losing battle. They always returned.

When the first wave of the invasion returned recently, the family hired a bee removal expert.

"He cut a hole in the ceiling and pulled out honeycombs," Sonnier said.

He said he was told the bees also ate some of the sheet rock.

"The bee guy said he had never seen or heard of that before," Sonnier said.

About 70,000 honeybees were removed from the home. They have now been relocated to a more appropriate location, along with a series of large honeycombs also removed from the house.

"I'm amazed none of them got inside the rooms and stung anybody," said Sonnier. "But I'm going to be on the lookout for more of them for the rest of my life."
