Port Arthur man finds wife's engagement ring in flooded home

PORT ARTHUR, Texas (KTRK) -- A Port Arthur man found an important keepsake when he returned to his flooded home for the first time.

Michael Brown searched his home on Saturday in hope of retrieving some of his family's belongings. When he returned, households items were still floating through the home in waist-high water.

He stumbled upon his wife's engagement ring floating in a jewelry box.

"My family's fine, nobody's hurt. That's the main thing because I think all this material stuff can be replaced," Brown told the Associated Press of his ordeal.

Brown said he is trying to keep a positive spirit during an emotional time.
