Bollywood star kicks off world tour in Houston
Shah Rukh Khan, the second-highest paid actor in the world, is kicking off his world tour in front of 50,000 people in Houston Friday night

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- For the first time in a decade, Bollywood film star Shah Rukh Khan is back in Houston.

"I'm just here to see him, I just want to get one glimpse of him and just meet him once," said Anum Imtiaz. "That's like, my dream!"

A scheduled news conference turned into a mob of 200 fans, eager to meet Khan and the cast of his upcoming film, "Happy New Year."

"I cannot talk right now, I just want to meet him. So badly," said Amna Khalid, who said she hadn't slept in two days because she was so excited for a chance to meet Khan.

Khan isn't just any actor. He's the second-highest paid actor in the world, with a net worth of $600 million.

He chose to kick off his Slam, The Tour concert in Houston, home to America's fastest-growing Indian and Pakistani population.

"I think more than just coming, performing, earning money and spreading what we do, what makes us proud is offering a service to people who are staying away from home and doing so well," said Khan. "It makes me feel very proud. It's our way of saying thank you to everyone around the world, not just in the subcontinent for making us the stars that we are."

The concert is Friday, September 19 at the Toyota Center.
