LONGVIEW, TX (KTRK) -- A woman who faked being a teenager to go to high school in east Texas is now talking about why she did it.

Charity Johnson, 34, served nearly a month in jail. She was arrested last month after she posed as a 15-year-old to go to a small private school.

Johnson claims she posed as a teen because she was looking for someone to love her. She was taken in by a couple and stayed with them, claiming she didn't have any family. She says she also has academic goals.

"I'm just a normal person, like any other normal person, trying to pursue her education, get her education and make it through life and be a better person," she told Tyler TV station KETK.

Johnson spent 29 days in jail on charges of having a fake ID. She pleaded guilty to those charges and was released on time served.

The couple who took her in said they aren't going to abandon her, even though they now know her real age.
