Wisconsin firefighters travel to Houston to help HFD firefighters whose homes were damaged by Harvey.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- When Harvey hit Houston, firefighters were out helping save lives and keep people safe during the height of the storm.

While they were helping others, more than 150 firefighters' homes were flooded.

A group of 25 firefighters from Wisconsin heard about the struggles these families are facing and made the drive south to help out.

The men and women said when they heard and saw what happened to Houston, and especially these firefighters, they had no choice but to help.

The volunteers will be in the area for a few days, doing what they can to repair the firefighters' homes.

The Wisconsin volunteers are actually from the same county that Houston Texan J.J. Watt is from. They said they'd been talking with his family, which helped them also make the decision to make the trip.
