Harris County detectives again pleads for information about Cypress family's unsolved murder

CYPRESS, TX

The meeting this afternoon was billed as a safety and crime prevention meeting, but as expected, there were several questions about the still unsolved quadruple murder that still has the Chinese community very much on edge.

Addressing a room packed with members of Houston's Chinese community, members of the sheriff's department and Houston Police Department offered suggestions for the community to build a stronger relationship with law enforcement.

They also took the time for an update on the still-unsolved murder of a Chinese couple and their two children in Cypress late January.

"We don't have any hard information. We're asking the community for any assistance. If they know anything to call Crime Stoppers or the Harris County sheriff's department homicide division with any information they may have," said Harris County Sheriff's Office Detective Felipe River.

The murders of Maoye Sun and his wife Mei Xie, along with their two young sons inside their Cypress home sent a shockwave through the Chinese community.

Investigators and Sheriff Adrian Garcia again asked the community for help with the investigation.

Tips have been coming in, but still nothing concrete.

Those who attended say they'd like to see an arrest in the case just as much as investigators.

"It's a big concern to me, yes," attendee Hoag Chen said. "This should not have happened."

Investigators say they still have no motive, no suspects and not much to go on. They're waiting for the results of some forensics tests, but desperately needing more help from the community.

"Just information in general, just anything that could lead us to talk to somebody, basically," River said.

Sheriff Garcia repeatedly mentioned the department's iWatch-Harris County mobile phone app. He mentioned specifically that the app could translate automatically from Chinese to English, and that tips could be left anonymously.
