A family of six in League City has been struggling financially, like a lot of people have in the Houston area, but for this family, thanks to Gallery Furniture, this holiday suddenly got a lot brighter. The Solis family is one of 30 Houston area families selected for the Gallery Furniture holiday giveaway.
"It tugs at everybody's heart," said Georgia Ann Spears with Gallery Furniture. "What Gallery wants everybody to realize is that we do this because Mack likes giving back to everybody."
The new furniture replaces old, stained and ripped furniture the Solis family received from church donations, and old mattresses that sat on the floor without bed frames.
"The only way we can say it is to thank God for it all, that's the main thing," said father Matt Solis.
Valerie Locasio, the neighbor who nominated the Solis family, was herself a recipient of the Gallery Furniture holiday giveaway six years ago.
She said, "Mom had told me just a month or so ago that she had put Christmas in the Lord's hands and if it was meant to be, it would happen."
They're material things that mean a lot to this dad, who just took on a part time job on top of his power washing business to make ends meet.
This is the 30th year Gallery Furniture has gifted a house full of furniture to deserving families.
