The Public Works Department is trying to fix the problem on Unity near Richmond. Police say just after midnight the driver ran off the road and hit the hydrant, causing it to spew water at least 20 feet into the air.
The driver was not hurt, but he was arrested for drunk driving.
It's not clear how long it will take for city crews to get that bent and broken hydrant patched up.
