A brush fire burning in southeast Montgomery County prompted authorities to ask residents to evacuate on Monday afternoon.

People were being let back in their homes near Porter after they had to evacuate due to a forest fire. Crews were still working to put out the flames by nighttime near Mace and Flower Ridge. The dry conditions helped fuel the flames.

A daycare was among the buildings evacuated.

No buildings are damaged. About 70 residents had to evacuate, but they were back at home by night.
