Authorities throughout southeast Texas have taken extra steps to prevent wildfires erupting because of the severe drought plaguing our area, and those precautions include a ban on fireworks during the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Below is a list of counties surrounding the Houston area that have banned the use of fireworks:

Austin - Sale and use prohibited

Brazoria - Sale and use prohibited

Chambers - Sale and use prohibited

Colorado - Sale and use of aerial fireworks prohibited

Fort Bend - Sale and use prohibited

Galveston - Sale and use prohibited (beginning noon Saturday)

Grimes - Sale and use prohibited

Harris - Sale and use prohibited

Liberty - Sale and use prohibited

Matagorda - Sale and use of aerial fireworks prohibited

Montgomery - Sale and use prohibited

San Jacinto - Sale and use prohibited

Waller - Sale and use prohibited

Wharton - Sale and use prohibited
