A man in his 50s was killed Saturday night after driving a motorcycle around a curve too fast, officials said. According to Harris County Sheriff's Office investigators, Burl Alsbrooks was driving a 2000 Honda Shadow motorcycle around 7:30pm Saturday. He was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound in the 7400 block of Texas Spur 330, officials said.

Alsbrooks took the exit ramp to the I-10 East Fwy. westbound, but HCSO deputies on scene said he was going too fast for the curve in the road.

The man lost control, left his lane and slammed into the metal guardrail along the edge of the shoulder.

Investigators said Alsbrooks was thrown off the motorcycle and the bike kept going for about 200 yards down the ramp and into the grassy shoulder.

He was wearing a helmet, but it was not a full helmet and he hit his face on the guardrail. He died at the scene.
