Man arrested for allegedly throwing dog into traffic

HOUSTON The Harris County Sheriff's Office was called to the intersection of Ann Ln. at Solon Dr. in northwest Houston for a weapons distrubance Monday.

According to court documents, at least one witness saw the man kicking and beating the dog with a club. He is also accused of jumping on the dog and then trying to throw it in the path of oncoming traffic.

A Harris County deputy met up with the suspect -- 45-year-old Floyd Robinson Jr. -- who said he was just walking the dog. He was arrested at the scene.

Robinson was charged with misdemeanor cruelty to a non-livestock animal and was being held on $3,000 bond.

The dog was taken by animal control and was in their custody Wednesday, officials said.
