Free removal of Ike-killed trees ending

GALVESTON, TX Islanders have until 6pm Monday, May 31 to submit their completed application. City leaders are urging property owners with dead and dying trees to take advantage of the free removal program immediately. Officials are cautioning residents this is the final deadline and FEMA will not extend the program again.

Trees located on private property that were killed by Hurricane Ike's salty storm surge may be eligible for removal at no cost, but only if residents register into the city's free private property debris and tree removal program (PPDR). Property owners can participate in the program by obtaining and completing a Right-of-Entry (ROE) form. Forms and information are currently available at the Beck Disaster Recovery Office.
