Child predator wanted in crackdown

HOUSTON During the month of April, Crime Stoppers will launch this aggressive campaign to protect children. The initiative will focus on locating felons who remain at large for offenses against children. The child predators are wanted for victimizing our children, for failing to register as sex offenders, or for failing to comply with their probation requirements after being convicted of a sexual offense against a minor.

Francisco Javier Herrera Sr. was set to appear for trial November 20, 2000, on two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child Under 14, for actions he took against a 9-year-old non-relative female on or about January 31, 1999 and a 10-year-old non-relative female on or about December 25, 1998 while they were staying at his home in Baytown, Texas. The victims had not made outcry initially because of fear of Herrera.

Herrera failed to appear for the trial, and warrants 0861994 and 0861995 were issued November 28, 2000 by the 337th District Court for his arrest for failure to appear.

Herrera is described as an Hispanic male, 41 years old, 5'6" tall, 190 pounds, medium-length black hair, brown eyes, mustache, medium-dark complexion, with a heavy build. His last known address was 4018 McClean Road, Baytown TX.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information called in to the 713-222-8477 (TIPS)hotline that leads to Francisco Javier Herrera Sr.'s arrest. All callers remain anonymous.
