HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- There's a traffic jam in the jet stream.
What's known as a "wave number 6" weather pattern is causing weather systems around the northern hemisphere to slow down, which can lead to weather extremes.
For some, that means extreme rain, but for Houston, it means extreme sunshine.
Recent research suggests that this kind of weather pattern is becoming more frequent in the spring and summer due to warming temperatures in the arctic.
