Truck damaged by sinkhole in SW Houston roadway
HOUSTON (KTRK) -- We've learned two men in a truck partially fell into a sinkhole today on a roadway in southwest Houston.
A man and his cousin were driving on Chimney Rock toward Clarewood when they felt a bump under their front tire and then the back end of the vehicle popped up.
The men were able to get out of the vehicle, but the impact of the sinkhole opening up damaged the underside of the truck, spilling out fuel. The sinkhole appears to be about eight feet long, four or five feet deep and five feet wide.
A HAZMAT team was called to the scene to clean up the truck's fuel.
The City of Houston officials say crews area securing the area with steel plates and are looking to do repairs Monday morning. Officials say the sinkhole most likely is a collapse water line.
No one was hurt.
