Japanese auto parts maker Takata Corp. pleaded guilty to fraud Monday and agreed to pay a $1 billion penalty for concealing a deadly defect in millions of its air bags.
Thirteen automakers are recalling more than 652,000 vehicles in the U.S. in the latest round of dangerous Takata air bag inflator recalls
The company wants to examine more than 800,000 vehicles made in North America.
The recall is linked to millions of other air bags recalled by Japan's Takata Corp.
