Strack Farms in north Harris County shuts down
Now people who want to have pieces of history will get their chance at an auction

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A north Houston institution that served up country favorites for over 40 years has closed its doors.

Strack's Family Dining was a mainstay in Spring known for its chicken fried steak and barbecue. The business was owned by the Strack family and began as a small farmers market which turned into a full fledged restaurant in 1982.

Thousands of families visited the place that also served as a banquet hall for weddings, anniversaries and birthday parties. But in the last five years, with stiff competition opening around them, the Strack's decided to close its doors on June 29.

The family will host a public auction this Saturday at the restaurant, located at 5707 Louetta in Spring for anyone who wishes to purchase a memento from the place. Registration starts at 8am.
