HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Every once in a while, we cover stories of people we'll never forget.
Six-year-old Ziggy Stovall-Reed is one of those people.
On Wednesday, he set aside his battle with leukemia to officially sign with the Rice University football team.
At his very own signing day, Ziggy got a Rice Owls cap and a standing ovation from his new teammates. With his mom by his side, his signing speech didn't disappoint.
"It's my favorite sport. I run and I throw the football. But I catch footballs everyday. And I play with my mom," he said.
Rice head coach David Bailiff describes Ziggy as a "playmaker." He also said that Ziggy just gained 100 brothers and 10 grandfathers to look out for him. null
