HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A woman from Sugar Land has been charged after court documents say she injected a patient with an unknown substance that caused harm.
Records show that Iris Vanessa Garcia, 35, from Sugar Land, was charged with practicing medicine without a license or permit, causing harm, following a Sept. 26 procedure that left a woman with medical problems.

According to documents obtained by ABC13, the woman contacted Garcia through her Instagram account, "One_Aesthetics.htx," and scheduled an appointment for Botox and dermal fillers. Records state Garcia performed the procedures at her business, "One Aesthetics Houston," at 1500 South Dairy Ashford Road in west Houston.
The complaint says Garcia told the woman she was certified to give Botox and filler treatments and that she would use real Juvederm, a common wrinkle filler. Records later revealed Garcia lied to her client, and the product she used was counterfeit.
Court documents say that after paying more than a thousand dollars for the procedure, the woman started having serious complications from the injections.
The documents state the woman went back to Garcia for a post-op visit more than a week later and told her she felt "chunks" along her jawline. The woman said Garcia then injected her with what she called "something to dissolve on her jawline."
According to documents, the woman returned a week after her post-op visit and told Garcia her right eyelid was drooping badly and her forehead felt paralyzed. She said Garcia gave her more injections with another substance and more "Botox," assuring her it would fix the problems.
Three days later, the woman said her right eye could barely open and her pain was so severe that she went to Memorial Heights Emergency Center. Records show medical staff diagnosed her with facial nerve palsy.
Documents say that during a final visit on Oct. 23, the woman asked to see Garcia's credentials, but Garcia refused to show any documentation or proof of certification.
According to records, an officer from the Houston Police Department Major Offenders Division investigated the woman's complaint and found that Garcia is not certified or licensed to perform any of the cosmetic procedures she did.
Court records show Garcia was charged on Dec. 1.
