HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A man wanted in connection with the shooting death of his girlfriend in north Houston was arrested Thursday afternoon, according to the U.S. Marshal's Office.

Authorities said 48-year-old Eric Eugene Goosby was arrested at about 2 p.m. Thursday in the 1900 block of Hussion Street.

This comes after the Houston Police Department announced it was searching for Goosby, who was charged with murder in connection with his girlfriend's killing.

HPD said the 50-year-old victim, who has not been identified, was found unresponsive on Monday after officers responded to a person down call.

During the investigation, police learned that neighbors heard gunshots at about 9 p.m. on March 29 and saw a man, believed to be Goosby, leaving the apartment alone.

Initially, police said they were looking to speak with Goosby, but in an updated release, authorities said the investigation identified him as the suspect.
