HOUSTON (KTRK) -- We have some important information for those of you wanting fireworks for your new year's celebration.
Remember, fireworks are illegal in the city of Houston and parts of the county.
The city has a map that shows not only the city limits where fireworks are banned but also where they're banned in the county -- with those areas being mainly to the north and west of the city. And in some parts of the county, the fireworks ban includes use and transportation.
If you're caught with fireworks the fines are anywhere from $500 up to $2,000 for each individual firework.
For more information on fireworks safety, check out the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office website.
