HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The Texans spent their Labor Day working and getting ready for the season opener in Los Angeles.

Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said he's fired up because football is in the air. He's excited to get the season kicked off against the Rams on Sunday.

"Every year is different," Ryans said. "I'm excited to see the 2025 Texans how we look, how we show up on Sundays. And mean I'm fired up."

Most Texans players are also excited while walking in to do their job.

"It's exciting," offensive tackle Aireontae Ersery said. "You can feel the energy today from the guys as we had walk throughs and in our meetings.

"It's kind of a good combination of both of excitement in and focus," linebacker Henry To'oto'o said.

"You work hard all off season and through camp, now it's time to go and put it together," running back Nick Chubb said. "So it's definitely nerves, but overall, I'm just excited to be here."

Almost every game is one at the line of scrimmage and early in the week, key to the opener from the head coach.

"It (the game) really hinges upon both offensive lines blocking two really talented defensive lines," Ryans said. "The Rams have one of the best young defensive lines in the NFL. They get out there, they play relentless, they're tough, and they're same for their offensive line versus our defensive line. We have a really good group up front; one of the strengths of our team. Both offensive lines are going to have to play well. Whoever wins that battle, I think, will ultimately decide the game."

Kickoff is on Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles. Check out ABC13's Countdown to Kickoff special on Sunday at 11 a.m.
