Homeowner opens fire on would-be burglar

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Another would-be burglar was greeted by an armed homeowner, and once more the burglar paid the price.

A Harris County Sheriff's Office spokesperson says it happened late Monday morning on Barosa Street, near Clay and Fry roads.

The intruder was trying to break in through the back of the house. The homeowner was already armed with a 12-gauge shotgun. According to the sheriff's office, three shots were fired.

The suspect was struck at least twice. He then left, bleeding, apparently making his way to a car on another street and left. K-9's were brought in but lost the blood trail.

The homeowner was unhurt, but has had to replace glass broken by either the burglar, or the shotgun blasts.
