Family of Ebola patient to end isolation

DALLAS, TX (KTRK) -- It is business as usual in the apartment community Amber Vinson, the second nurse diagnosed with Ebola, calls home.

"It seems as if nothing happened here," says Patrick Yang.

A sign on Vinson's door says it's still under quarantine and people in the neighborhood got a letter saying management took additional sanitation measures in public areas.

Kyle Koestner just moved to the neighborhood and says it's surreal to hear all of the fear from around the country, especially Cleveland.

"Reading the national reports, it seems like they're in more hysteric emotions than we are because of the fact that she was there," he says.

Thomas Eric Duncan was diagnosed last month, and died last week. His girlfriend, Louise Troh has been in isolation for three weeks, along with three relatives. Sunday is the last full day.

"She and those who are with her have continued to be healthy," says Mark Wingfield. "No signs of infection, which we believe to just be a miracle given the circumstances."

Wingfield is the Associate Pastor of Wilshire Baptist Church, where Troh has been a member for about a year. He says the family's recovery will be more emotional and financial because everything she owned was destroyed when crews decontaminated her apartment in the days after Duncan's diagnosis.

"So you've got the grief of loss of a person who you loved, and you've got the grief of loss of all of your possessions, and then on top of that, you're an international item and people are wanting to know everything about you and you're really wanting to be a private person," Wingfield says.

He says the church is working with the city, the county, and non-profits to help her however they can.

State health officials say someone will bring a release from the Control Order Troh and her family has been under at some point Monday. After that, they'll no longer need to stay home.

Wingfield says the Wilshire Baptist Church family will be right there to help them adjust to whatever their new normal will be.
