HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A mother and her baby were hospitalized after a car crash on the I-10 East Freeway in east Harris County on Thursday evening, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
Based on preliminary information, the sheriff's office said that a 21-year-old woman with her 9-month-old baby was traveling eastbound in a sedan, pulled off to the left shoulder, and was rear-ended by a 36-year-old driver who came up speeding from behind them.
Deputies said that the mom and her baby were transported to a hospital. The mom is in fair condition, while the baby is listed critical but stable condition, authorities said.
Officials said that the crash shut down all eastbound lanes of the I-10 East Freeway near the San Jacinto River on Thursday evening for a crash investigation.
