HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Just days after arriving in Houston aboard The Freedom Plane, nine of the nation's original founding documents from the National Archives in Washington, D.C., are now on public display at the Houston Museum of Natural Science.
The free exhibit, Documents That Forged a Nation, gives visitors a rare opportunity to see foundational pieces of American history up close.
We spoke with a father who brought his children to the museum, "It's good to have the kids learn about their history and where America came from, why we fight for what we do, and what America stands for."
Maureen MacDonald is the curator of the Freedom Plane Tour.
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for these documents to be in Texas," MacDonald said. "It is a chance to see documents held by the founding fathers, and you don't have to go to Washington to see it.
