SPRING, Texas (KTRK) -- In August, Chung Ho of Seattle made a special trip to hand-deliver a Klein High School ring, sparking a mystery in the community.
Klein ISD posted photos of the 1964 ring on Facebook asking for help in finding the owner or the next of kin. It ignited a flurry of theories, but today, the original owner remains a mystery.
Ho told district officials that her brother was given the ring in Germany and has been in her family's possession in Vietnam for more than four decades. Her father said it was time for the ring to make its way home.
Steve Baird is a historian for Klein ISD and is actively searching for the person who first wore the ring. As of now, he doesn't believe the ring belonged to a student.
"(The ring) It's abnormally small, it has a red stone. The 1964 Klein ring has a blue stone with a K. Since this ring is so different than the 1964 student class ring... what if this is a staff member's ring to commemorate the brand new school in 1964?"
Baird wants the ring to go where it belongs, completing the full circle.
"If we're able to find the owner, or at least the family, and say this ring belonged to - and give them the ring back, I think that makes the story more complete, and we want to make sure we tell that story," Baird said.
