HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- All lanes of the East Freeway were reopened Friday afternoon after debris forced a complete shutdown of the westbound lanes at Cedar Lane.

Lt. Terry Garza with the Harris County Sheriff's Office said dry tar and lumber on the freeway forced the road closure. All traffic exited the freeway at Bayou/Cedar Lane as TxDOT crews performed a cleanup.

Houston TranStar states the incident was reported at about 11:16 a.m.

Garza said it appears a vehicle dropped the materials on the roadway and did not stop.
