According to Mont Belvieu city officials, all westbound lanes on I-10 at FM 1409 were shut down Monday morning due to an 18-wheeler carrying a shipment of diapers catching on fire.
Mont Belvieu Police said that a 40-year-old mother and a 13-year-old daughter died after crashing into a truck's flatbed trailer that got stuck across the road.
Authorities said the victim got out of his truck to defend himself and was able to eventually hold the suspect down until police arrived.
Earlier that day, police issued an arrest warrant for the suspect with murder on a $2,000,000 bond after he fled the scene where his wife was killed.
Good news! You can now drive on brand-new sections of SH-99 from I-69 near New Caney to I-10 in Mont Belvieu and from Beach City to SH-146 in Baytown.
