HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The Houston Humane Society is looking for a happy ending for some of the dogs rescued from a filthy home in Bay City last month. Twenty of the 25 dogs rescued from the mobile home are now up for adoption and the organization says it's "desperately" looking for people to adopt them.

The rescue organization today released "before" and "after" photos of each of the animals with details of their ordeal and survival.

The dogs -- 25 small Chihuahua mixes -- were seized from the home in Matagorda County last month, along with seven rats and a python.

When they were rescued, the dogs were confined to small wire cages and covered in their own filth. Houston Humane Society officials say a tip from a neighbor that rats were biting at the tiny dogs when food was put out led authorities to the trailer.

Seven rats are also available for adoption.

The status of the five dogs not up for adoption is unclear as of this writing.

The ball python was sent to a reptile rescue.

To adopt, please visit Houston Humane Society at 14700 Almeda Rd, Houston, TX 77053. Hours for adoption are Monday-Friday: 11am-6pm and Saturday-Sunday: 11am-5:30pm.
