HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The Houston Fire Department has selected a new interim fire chief to take over when Terry Garrison leaves.
Executive assistant chief Rodney West named will take over the department temporarily, beginning October 31. West is an assistant chief out of HFD's communications department.
HFD announced late last month that Garrison, who has been chief since September of 2010, had accepted a new job in Arizona and would be leaving the department.
This is the second time Garrison has announced he's leaving the Houston Fire Department. Back in 2013, he said he was resigning, but changed his mind days after making the announcement.
