2 hospitalized after homes overturned, shaken in Alvin; puppy pulled from rubble

ALVIN, TX (KTRK) -- A mobile home was turned on its side in the Alvin area as high winds lashed the area overnight.

Eyewitness News' Miya Shay was there this morning with residents.

The elderly couple living inside the pink trailer that overturned is hospitalized this morning, but is expected to be OK. Rescuers had to dig the grandmother out of the trailer from beneath her bed.

A family member said, "The wall of the house fell on my grandmother. My grandpa said he was all right, but they're at the hospital right now. So we don't know that much. ... We just want her to be OK."

The family of six living in the mobile home next door escaped without injuries.

A woman living across the street from the overturned trailer said, "In my house, I heard the alert on and when I got up, I told my husband, 'there's a an alert of a tornado.' As soon as I told him that, my lights went off and then I was going to my room, and it just hit us.

She continued, "It threw me to my floor, my dresser fell on top of me. I couldn't get out. I was screaming. And my husband managed to go get me out. I crawled out from my dresser. I mean, all of my rooms were torn apart. My house from the inside is all damaged. I don't know how we're going to do it. My house is thrown to the floor from the side. I don't even know how I got out. I just managed to get out right now."

While on our air, we captured an incredible scene: a man found a puppy amid the rubble that had been missing since storms struck the mobile home park.
