Get Scandal's Olivia Pope's looks for less
HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The season premiere of 'Scandal' is tonight on ABC-13, and what better way to get excited about the show than checking out Olivia Pope's fashion?
In the show, Kerry Washington's character is known for getting out of tough situations all while being dressed to perfection. On the show, she wears high-end designers like Escada and Dior, clothes with very expensive price tags.
"I look at the price tags on some of the clothes that Olivia Pope wears and I can't believe it, I can't afford it," Washington said.
Don't worry, you don't have to spend thousands. Washington and the show's costume designer collaborated with The Limited to launch a line of fashion inspired by the show. Prices start at $49.95.
"I love that this line is accessible to women and that you are going to be able to wear it a lot," Washington.
Many of Olivia Pope's signature looks are still high for fashionistas on a budget. We turned to stylist Stevie Bingham to show how you can pull the look for less.
Bingham says there are several key fashion rules to pull off Olivia Pope's. One of the most important - structure.
"If you look at all the blazers that she wears there is something to it," Bingham said. "In the jackets you will see structure, in the outer coats you will see structure, in the pants she is wearing very tailored."
Then, she adds feminine touches with soft, silky fabrics and dainty jewelry pieces.
"It's a mix play of fashion as far as very structured coats without looking too hard," Bingham said.
At JC Penney, Bingham has the perfect example of soft meets structure with some prices under $25.
Another key to Olivia Pope's wardrobe is a neutral color palette.
"It's blacks, whites and darker colors that when you put it together it looks so powerful," Bingham.
Bingham found a crisp, white button down and houndstooth print skirt, a perfect pair for less than $60.
