HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Essential oils are commonly used for aromatherapy, massages, and even baths. But essential oil enthusiast April Reeder says there are some interesting internal and topical uses to take advantage of too.
Peppermint Oil
Peppermint oil can be used internally for or topically by drinking a drop or two or by rubbing on the stomach for a tummy ache. We can also rub on the temples for a persistent headache. Be very careful not to get it in the eyes. If you ever get an essential oil in your eyes use a carrier oil to get it out. You could use coconut, olive or almond oil to assist in removing essential oil from eyes.
Eucalyptus Oil
Eucalyptus oil can be sprinkled in bathtub or shower to clear up sinus issues or congestion. I also hang a fresh branch of eucalyptus on the shower head to bring out the oils in the leaves.
Lavender Oil
Lavender oil has many healing properties. It can be used to relax. It also helps heal cuts, burns, and scrapes. Also, since Lavender is anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-viral, mix it with water to create a spray. Spritz it on your yoga mat to kill any germs. It also makes an incredible tasting frosting for cupcakes and tea.
Rosemary Oil

Citrus Oils
Any citrus oils like grapefruit orange, lemon can be used to detox and clean out the body and fat cells where we store our toxins. Funny enough these oils a very powerful if used to clean surfaces. Clove Oil
Clove oil is great to use on our teeth and gums because it numbs the pain. Just add to area with finger.
Oregano Oil
Oregano oil is very powerful in aiding in our health, especially If you feel like you're just getting sick. It is a very hot oil and must be diluted. Don't use topically, unless on the bottom of the feet with a carrier oil.

Ylang Ylang oil is an aphrodisiac. Add it two lotions or candles to enhance the mood.
Lemon, Melaleuca, and Oregano Oils
Lemon, melaleuca and oregano essential oils can be used internally for the overgrowth of yeast in the body commonly know as candida. You can easily add to an empty vegan capsule for easy use. Melaleuca can also be used to keep flees and ticks off animals, made into a mosquito spray for humans and sprayed on vegetable garden to keep bugs off plants. Can we make a spray? This incredibly powerful oil also works wonders when applied topically onto face or body for an acne treatment.
Frankincense
Frankincense is an incredible oil for inflammation when taken internally in extreme moderation. Most doctors will tell you that inflammation is the root of most disease.
