Attempted ATM break-in ends in 2 arrests in east Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police say a suspected thief is on the run and two of his accomplices are in custody after an attempt to rob an ATM at a bank drive-thru this morning in east Houston.

Police say the attempted break-in happened on Sheffield and East Freeway around 4:30am. An officer spotted the three suspects tinkering with the ATM. The men ran in different directions.

One suspect became trapped along the edge of the East Freeway. He surrendered. The other two men ran under the freeway. Police arrested one of them, but the other escaped.
