Correa met with the Dhaliwal family Monday afternoon and donated $10,000 during their time of need. He said he felt compelled to make the donation after hearing of the deputy's shooting.

Deputy Dhaliwal did a lot of work in Puerto Rico, Correa's home country, helping them recover from Hurricane Maria in 2017.
"We are ready to go help our brothers and sisters in #PuertoRico," wrote Dhaliwal on Instagram. He also posted a video alongside Harris County commissioner, Adrian Garcia, from the trip.
Dhaliwal changed the lives of many, according to community members, and was the first deputy to wear a turban and a beard, blending the articles of faith of his Sikh religion with his uniform.

During Sunday's game, the Houston Texans held a moment of silence for Dhaliwal before their game against the Panthers.

Papa John's pizza is also making a generous offer to help support Dhaliwal's family. On Tuesday, the chain will donate profits from its greater Houston-area locations to the deputy's family.
