Dashcam video shows police vehicle striking 16-year-old fleeing from officers

SACRAMENTO, California (KTRK) -- Newly released dashcam video shows an officer hitting a teen with his SUV in California.

The officer was responding to the area after a 16-year-old ran away from police.

The department says the officer made a left turn too quickly and couldn't stop in time.

"This doesn't fall under the city policy of use of forces," police said.

The teen sustained minor injuries. His family has hired an attorney while the department and state troopers investigate.
