HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A cool front moves in overnight bringing slightly cooler temperatures back to SE Texas. There may be a few showers along it, and maybe even a thunderstorm over our northern counties.
Gusty winds and very dry air will blow in behind the cool front. It'll be so windy and dry that there will be an elevated risk for wild fires to spread. A Fire Weather Warning has been issued for the area. It goes into effect at noon, and lasts through 9pm. Cooler temperatures arrive for Sunday with morning lows in the 50s and afternoon highs only in the low 70s.
It sure looks that way! On average, Houston's last night in the 30s occurs around mid March. If we see any signs of a light freeze or frost on the horizon, we'll be sure to let you know! Otherwise, it's generally considered safe to put plants into the ground if you haven't done so already.
Tree and grass pollen have risen to the high territory for now. It's the oak pollen that's the problem if you're sneezing right now.
