HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Colder air is rushing in Tuesday morning. While this cool air only stick around for one day, we don't have to wait long for another cold front on Thanksgiving Day to chill us off for the rest of the month.
Temperatures will cool off into the upper 40s and lows 50s across Houston by sunrise, and with the north wind gusting up to 20 mph, it will feel extra chilly to start your Tuesday. We should get a healthy dose of sunshine that will warm temperatures into the upper 60s and low 70s during the afternoon. The wind will also slow down in the afternoon making for nearly ideal weather for most outdoor activities.
We have high confidence now that a strong cold front will blow through Southeast Texas before sunrise on Thursday, bringing us a chilly, breezy holiday. Temperatures will start off in the mid 50s under a cloudy sky with winds gusting from the north at over 20 mph. With the clouds sticking around most of the day, temperatures will only warm back into the mid 60s. There is a 20% chance for a passing shower, but most will stay dry.
We aren't seeing any signs of freezing weather over the next 10 days, but long range projections indicate there's a low chance for a light freeze during the second week of December. On average, Houston's first freeze occurs during the second week of December.
