More scattered downpours are possible around Houston and southeast Texas on Friday and Saturday as rich, tropical moisture blows in from the Gulf of Mexico. The heavy rain will come with frequent lightning and thunder. Any storm that pops up could dump a quick inch of rain.

It'll turn dry and very hot Sunday and beyond. We'll make it to the middle 90s on Memorial Day, then the upper 90s after that.

The National Hurricane Center says there's a high risk of a storm developing in the Gulf of Mexico by the end of the week. Right now it looks like most of the moisture will be east of Texas. North winds blowing into Houston on the west side of the circulation will blow drier air into southeast Texas starting Sunday and that could push temperatures into the mid 90s by Memorial Day.
