Katy Freeway reopened after major wreck involving construction truck

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A major accident blocked all westbound lanes of the Katy Freeway at Beltway 8 West for several hours Wednesday night.

The accident was reported just after 9pm. Police say a man was driving a Ford pickup truck westbound on the Katy Freeway when he crashed into the back end of a highway construction barricade truck.

The driver of the pickup truck died at the scene. No one else was injured.

Police aren't sure what caused the man to crash into the construction truck. The freeway was reopened early this morning.
