HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Just days after getting married to his longtime fiancee, Texans' Devon Still returned to Houston for a cause that's close to his heart.

Devon Still was the keynote speaker for the National Cancer Survivors Day Luncheon. His daughter Leah became a household name after her very high profile battle against cancer. She defeated cancer more than a year ago.

"Having cancer is definitely a community you don't want to be a part of," Devon said. "But once you're in it, it's like a family."

CanCare's goal is to provide cancer services every step of the way.

"We just walk along side with the patient while they're going through the experience and offer emotional support, hope and encouragement from someone who can say 'I've been there'," CanCare CEO Nancy Tucker said.

Devon says his wedding was a step in a new beginning for his family.

"Her (Leah) dancing was amazing right?" abc13's David Nuno asked.

"O, it was. She couldn't wait for that moment," Devon said. "That's why we waited so long to have the wedding because I know the type of personality my daughter has and I wanted to see that on my wedding day."

Devon's message to those in attendance at the luncheon was one of inspiration and hope.

In the fight against cancer, NEVER GIVE UP!
