Warehouse, truck catch fire in La Porte
A warehouse and a truck caught fire this morning at a La Porte business. Reporter Courtney Fischer reports.

LA PORTE, TX (KTRK) -- Fire officials are on the scene of a warehouse fire at a business in La Porte, trying to figure out how the blaze began.

An employee at a nearby plant spotted the fire around 5am in the 10000 block of Strang Road. No one was inside the warehouse when the fire started, according to police.

A company truck also went up in flames. It's unclear where the fire began, whether inside the warehouse or the vehicle.

Initially, it was thought the fire started at another location owned by the company Greif, but we've learned that is not the case.

Flames are out, and the fire marshal is now on the scene.

Asked if the fire is suspicious, Harris County arson investigator James Singleton said, "The facility was secure at the time of the fire. An employee coming to work this morning discovered the fire and called 911. At this time, cause or anybody being in there is fairly undetermined, we're still looking at that."

Pollution Control was called to the fire as a precaution, but when firefighters went into the warehouse they realized that the warehouse was empty and there were no chemicals inside -- just some big, empty oil drums, according to police.
