A Metro bus and car collided near downtown Houston, Tom Abrahams reports.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A dozen people went to local hospitals after a Metro bus collided with an another vehicle east of downtown Houston.

Witnesses say the driver of the car ran a red light at the intersection of McGowan and Chartres and slammed into the bus.

"Everybody on the bus was flying all over. The bus went up the ramp, the curb and all that. It dragged the car about a hundred feet, " said bus passenger Clarence Lewis.

Investigators at the scene would not assess blame for the accident, but did confirm witness accounts.

Both drivers were among those injured, though none of the injuries are life-threatening.
