HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Two fires broke out last night, one in north Houston and another in the Cy-Fair area.

A stove fire spread to rest of a home on Avenue of the Oaks and Fulton Avenue in north Houston. A man left food cooking on the stove as he worked on his car in the garage. That man was able to get out, but about half of the home was damaged.

A few hours later, in northwest Houston, firefighters responded to a fire in the Cy-Fair area on Golden Sunshine Drive.

The blaze at the vacant house was put out quickly. No utilities were connected at the house.

Investigators say the fire appears suspicious.
