What's with all the bad pants at TCH?
Bad pants, but good cause; check out the cringe-worthy styles at Texas Children's Hospital Wednesday

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Creativity and bad taste were key at The Bad Pants Day held at the Newborn Center inside Texas Children's Hospital.

Nurses and volunteers donned the loudest pants they could find to wear. Some kept in the impending Halloween spirit with candy corn pants. There was even a special appearance for the Perkins sextuplets from Pearland. Benjamin, Caroline, Andrew, Allison, Levi and Leah are now two years old.

Volunteer Les Fox from RBC Wealth Management, sponsor of the event, said, "Today is a day to really honor the nurses because they are the people with the first lines of care and they help keep the babies in a place where they can be comfortable and be healthy that much faster."

Bad pants also kicks off a fundraiser for babies like Cammie. She was born at just 25 weeks, three months early. She spent 86 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Her mother attended the event to reunite with nurses who took care of her family during that difficult time.

"The NICU is the reason Cammie is still with us. I don't think people realize that babies in the NICU are on life support and without support from events like this...it wouldn't be possible," said Amanda Kopp.

Today's event is also a kickoff for the Bad Pants Golf Tournament held next month. It raises money for the Newborn Center.
